The Mental Disability Advocacy Center (MDAC) advances the human rights of children and adults with actual or perceived intellectual or psycho-social disabilities. Focusing on Europe and Central Asia, it uses a combination of law and advocacy to promote equality and social integration. MDAC has participatory status with the Council of Europe.

MDAC's vision is for a world that values emotional, mental and learning differences, and where people respect each others autonomy and dignity.

23 December 2008. MDAC's client wins guardianship case in Bulgarian Supreme Court and declares "freedom is possible". MDAC is featured in International Herald Tribune article on guardianship. It's a busy end to a busy year.

NGOs Encourage Bulgarian Parliament to Legislate to Provide Rights for People with Disabilities

Geneva, Sofia & Budapest, 3 December 2008. The World Organisation Against Torture, the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee and the Mental Disability Advocacy Center call on the Bulgarian Parliament to legislate to stop human rights violations of persons with mental disabilities.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Dignity and justice for all of us is the theme of this year's International Day of Persons with Disabilities which is today, 3 December. This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
